Folklore and Greek Hagiography: Some Preliminary Notes

Based on personal experience and previous academic research, this article aims to lay the foundations for an interdisciplinary approach Greek hagiography. It represents first attempt define coordinates of study ancient hagiographical texts (lives saints, collections miracles, praises, etc.) through methodologies from folklore studies. By presenting a concrete example collection miracles healing dreams, I hope show potentialities such scholars my field, who are generally unaware skeptical it. At same time, would like outline richness data that hagiography has offer folklorists. To sum up, mutual exchange is expected (and needed) in future.
